My first music purchase of the new year is not in a format that can be listened to repeatedly. Instead, it is a ticket to an experience that will lead Jer and I to the East Coast, and allow us passage into America’s must-attend extreme metal festival, the Maryland Death Fest! Now in it’s 9th year (and 3rd for Jer and I), the MDF is an astounding and diverse display of the furthest reaches of metal music. This year features heavyweights such as Neurosis, Marduk, Cathedral, Coroner, and Voivod paired with the visceral likes of Nails, Funebrarum, Inquisition, Defeated Sanity, and Regurgitate!
